Asset tags in Mombasa

Mombasa's asset base is shaped by two things most inland towns don't deal with: constant handling equipment around the port and freight corridor, and a coastal atmosphere that is hard on any tag not built for it. We manufacture in Nairobi and deliver or travel to Mombasa, and most of the conversations we have there start with material choice rather than price.

Salt-laden humid air corrodes and lifts adhesives faster than an inland environment does, particularly on equipment stored outdoors or near the waterline, container handling gear, generators, yard vehicles and outdoor plant at port-adjacent warehouses and depots. For that reason we steer coastal customers toward anodised aluminium or, for equipment that is also exposed to heavy wear, stainless steel, rather than polyester-vinyl labels which are built for indoor, low-abrasion surfaces and will not hold up as well in that setting.

Mombasa's other major asset owner is the hospitality sector, hotels and resorts with large furniture, kitchen equipment and mechanical plant estates, usually tagged for insurance and depreciation records rather than public compliance reporting. Freight forwarders and clearing agents also tag office IT and vehicle fleets, often on a comprehensive register basis because vehicle assets need depreciation schedules banks and auditors will accept.
