Acetone-activated aluminium asset tags manufactured in Nairobi

A peel-and-stick tag can be lifted with a fingernail. An acetone-activated tag cannot be removed intact, that is the entire point.

The adhesive stays inert until it is wiped with acetone at the moment of application. It then bonds into the surface and cures permanently, so any attempt to remove the tag destroys it.

Specified for assets that move between custodians, leave your premises or sit on an audit schedule where a transferred tag would break the trail.

Application

How to apply

  1. Step 1

    Clean the surface

Remove dust, oil and old label residue. The surface must be dry before you continue.

  2. Step 2

Wipe the back of the tag with acetone

A light, even wipe activates the adhesive. Use the applicator supplied with your order.

  3. Step 3

    Press and hold

Position once, do not slide the tag, then press firmly for 20 to 30 seconds.

  4. Step 4

    Allow to cure before handling

Leave the asset undisturbed while the bond cures. Full strength develops over the following 24 hours.

We supply applicators and written instructions with every order, and we train your team on site at no charge on orders above 1,000 tags.

Acetone can damage some painted, lacquered and plastic finishes. Always test on an inconspicuous area first. We include test tags in every order for exactly this reason.

Buyer questions

Questions about acetone-activated aluminium asset tags

The adhesive on the back of the tag is inert when it arrives. You wipe it with acetone at the moment of application, which activates it, and it then bonds into the surface and cures permanently. Until you apply the acetone, the tags can be handled, sorted and stored without any risk of them sticking to anything.
