Riveted aluminium tags are the default for plant and machinery. Pre-punched to your fastener size, mechanically fixed, and completely unaffected by the oil film that defeats adhesive. Where a machine is going to be in service for fifteen years, this is the only specification that lasts the distance.
Acetone-activated aluminium works well on clean, flat machine housings and control panels — permanently bonded, and rated -40°C to +120°C with good resistance to water, oils and many industrial chemicals.
On-metal RFID tags are where large plants gain the most. A standard RFID tag stops working when mounted on metal, because the surface detunes the antenna. On-metal tags are engineered with a spacer layer so they read reliably on machinery, racking and vehicles — and they let you verify hundreds of assets a minute without line of sight, which is the difference between a two-week annual count and a two-day one.
Stainless steel tags for the genuinely extreme: chemical exposure, sustained high temperature, marine and wash-down installations.
Polyester for the office block, where spending plant-grade money makes no sense.
We will tell you when RFID is not worth it. Below roughly 2,000 assets verified once a year, barcode tags cost a fraction as much and do the job. RFID earns its premium on asset count, verification frequency and labour cost — ask us to run those numbers for your plant rather than guessing.
