Marking is etched or laser-marked into the steel rather than printed onto it, so the identifier survives abrasion, solvents and steam cleaning.
Supplied flat and pre-punched for mechanical fixing, or with industrial adhesive where drilling is not permitted.

Questions about stainless steel asset tags
When do we need stainless steel rather than aluminium?
When the environment exceeds what aluminium handles: sustained temperatures above 120°C, aggressive chemical exposure, marine and coastal salt, or high-pressure wash-down in food and pharmaceutical processing. For everything else, aluminium costs less and lasts long enough.

Quoted on specification. They are significantly more expensive than aluminium, and we will tell you honestly if your application does not need them, most do not.
How long do they last?
Decades, in practice. The failure mode is almost never the tag. For assets with a twenty or thirty year service life, the whole-life cost can actually be lower than replacing aluminium tags twice.
How is the marking applied?
Laser marked or chemically etched into the steel rather than printed on it, so there is no surface layer to wear away. That is what makes the marking survive abrasion and chemical attack.
Can they be fixed with adhesive?
Yes, though in the environments that justify stainless steel we usually specify riveting, bolting or welding. Adhesive in a wash-down or chemical environment is the weak point in the system.
Do they work for food processing?
Yes, and it is a common application, stainless is the standard material in wash-down zones and holds up to caustic cleaning. Confirm your specific hygiene requirements with us so we specify the right grade and fixing method.
Will they corrode at the coast?
The appropriate grade will not. Grade selection matters in marine and coastal environments, so tell us the location and exposure at the quotation stage rather than after installation.
Can we get a barcode on stainless steel?
Yes, laser marked. Contrast is lower than black-on-silver anodised aluminium, so scanning needs adequate light and we size the code accordingly. We verify readability before shipping.
Can they take our logo?
Yes, laser marked in the same single tone as the rest of the marking. Full-colour logos are not possible on stainless, if colour branding matters more than extreme durability, aluminium is the better product.
